Edward C. Bergfield, manager for the Farmers Elevator Co. at George, Lyon county, Iowa died Thursday, February 15, 1923. He sustained a paralytic stroke February 5 and remained unconscious most of time until his death. The funeral was held at the Second Baptist church, Rev. Meyer and Rev. Boell conducting services. Internment was in the George cemetery. The deceased man was born in Morgan county, Illinois, June 21, 1865. He married Clara Newkirk at Broadlands, Ill., March 13, 1890. They had one son, Charles William, who, with the widow, survives him. The Bergfields settled in George in 1906. The deceased man was a valuable employee for the elevator company.
