Alfred George Sutter, who has been a sufferer the past year with that dread disease, tuberculosis of the spine, more commonly known in medical science as Pott’s disease, died at the home of his father, L. Sutter in this city Tuesday morning, April 19th, l904.

Mr. Sutter was born at Elgin, Iowa on August 11, 1875. and come to Rock Rapids with his parents In 1888. He graduated from the high school of this city in 1893. after which he graduated from the Gem City Business college of Quincy, Ill.. and then in May 1903 he graduated from the Marion-Simms-Beaumont Medical College of St. Louis. He located for the practice of his profession at Bristol, S. D., where he remained from July till January, when he was forced to give up practice on account of his health. He went to St. Paul where he underwent an operation, but not improving he went to Denver, Colorado, for a change of climate, where he remained till last fall. and finding that he was gradually growing worse, returned to his home in this city.

Physicians held out no hope of his recovery for the past several months and his demise was expected at any time. He suffered intensely during nearly all of his illness and especially so during the past few months . While his death was expected at any moment, the resulting sorrow was none the less poignant. Mr. Sutter was highly esteemed by all his acquaintances and had a bright future before him in his chosen profession. The relatives have the sympathy of all the people in their sorrow.

Short services were held at the residence yesterday afternoon at 5 o’clock, by Rev. E. S. Johnson, after which the remains were taken to the I. C. depot and taken to Greeley. Iowa, for interment. The remains were accompanied by his father, L. Sutter, brother, F. L. Sutter, cashier of the Iowa Savings Bank of this city and his sisters Miss Nellie Sutter of Sioux City, Mrs. Long of Pipestone and Mrs. Lynn of Manchester, who were here when he died.

Regular funeral services will be held at the M. E. church at Greeley this afternoon.
