Funeral services for John J. Busch, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Koob Busch, Sr., of this city, were held from the First Methodist church, on Monday of this week. Following services conducted by Rev. F.E. Burgess, pastor of that church, the remains were taken to Riverview cemetery, for interment.
Mr. Busch was born in Germany, September 12, 1881, and died at his home, south of this city, March 27, at the age of 43 years. When but 2 years of age, he came with his parents to this country, and with them, made his home in Butler county. Some 30 years ago, they moved to Lyon county, which has been the family home since that time. After growing to manhood, Mr. Busch started farming for himself, and was making a marked success in his work. On March 10, 1921, he was married to Miss Florence Schlimm, who survives him.
For the past several years, the deceased had been in poor health, and had suffered financial reverses which of late made him very despondent. On Friday morning he went about his farm chores as usual, and later went to work in a new hog house which he had in process of construction. At noon he failed to come to the house, and upon investigation he was found to have hanged himself from one of the rafters in the new structure.
He leaves to mourn his loss, besides his wife, a father and mother, one sister, Mrs. S. B. Moon, of this city, and five brothers, Charles, Thomas, George, Koobie, and Theodore, who are all residents of this community. Another brother, Henry, preceded him in death.
Mr. Busch was a man highly respected by all who knew him. He was a good neighbor, and always willing to assist those who were in need, or who were less fortunately situated than himself. In business he was upright, and his integrity was of the highest character. He worked hard and had gained for himself a goodly share of material wealth, only to suffer reverses at the hands of fortune. His passing is mourned by all his friends and by a large circle of acquaintances.
Besides relatives and a large number of friends, Harry Schlimm of Gary, Ind., and Mrs. Charles Brandt, of Kimball, S.D. were here for the funeral services.
