MORKRID, MOELLER, SMOLLWOOD, HENRICKSON, DE ROOS

Ole Morkrid, 46, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ole Morkrid of George, Iowa, passed away on Thursday morning, August 9, 1951 at the age of 46 years, 8 months and 28 days.

Death was due to a cerebral hemorrhage following brain surgery. He was born November 11, 1904 in Bergen, Norway where he was also baptized. In 1907 he came with his parents and two sisters, Mathilde and Bergette, to this country.

They established their home at Lakefield, Minnesota, where he was a confirmed member of the Bethlehem Lutheran church. After attending high school, he took business course at Red Wing Seminary at Red Wing, Minnesota.

The following years were spent in the clothing business with his father, later; his occupation was that of a dry cleaner. In 1927, he was married to Stella Moeller of Westbrook, Minnesota. To this union one daughter, Barbara Ann, was born, now Mrs. Charles Smollwood of St. Paul, Minnesota.

Besides his daughter, he leaves to mourn, two grandchildren, his parents, two brothers: Herman of Jordan, Minnesota and Bernard of George, Iowa; three sisters: Mrs. William Henrickson of Sanborn; Mrs. Orin Wendt of Lakefield, and Mrs. Don De Roos of Melvin; also a number of other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held at the Sanborn Funeral Home on Saturday, August 11, with Rev. H.L. Daib, pastor of the St. John Lutheran church, of Sanborn, officiating.

Relatives and friends attending from distance were: Mr. and Mrs. O. Morkrid, Bernard Morkrid and family, Mrs. S.E. Hopkins and Ralph Veenker, all of George, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Herman Morkrid and son of Jordon, Minnesota; Mr. and Mrs. Orin Wendt and daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Agie Kilen, Mrs. Margaret Stanley and Mrs. Bessie Krebs, all of Lakefield; Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Johnson of Estherville; Dr. Rustad and Mr. Olson of Spencer; R.E. Anderson of Sioux Rapids. Interment was at Roseland Cemetery in Sanborn, Iowa.
