Adam Fie, 84, Veteran of the Spanish-American War, and resident of George for the past 43 years died suddenly at his home Tuesday evening, November 13, 1951, at about 6:45 p.m.

Mr. Fie, due to his old age and other complications, he had been in poor health for the past few years, although he was about his home a good share of the time and occasionally had been about town. He was born April 1, 1867, in Clayton county, Iowa to Adam Fie, Sr. and Catherine (Winch) Fie. Mr. Fie was raised east of Hull, on a farm, and when a young man he enlisted in the army and served during the Spanish-American War. After the war, he was married to Luella Ann Putnam on February 6, 1901, and for a short time farmed in this vicinity, and then moved to South Dakota. About 43 years ago the Fie family moved to George, where Mr. Fie made his home until his death. Mrs. Luella Fie passed away in 1918.

Besides many relatives and friends, he leaves to mourn his death, seven children: Jerome of Ogallala, Nebraska; Donald of George, Iowa; Wallace of Doon, Iowa; Harley of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Fern of Wayne, Nebraska; Velma of George, Iowa; and Ralph of Spencer, Iowa. Three children died in infancy.

Military funeral services will be held from the Donald Fie home in George at 1:30 p.m. and from the Ebenezer Presbyterian church in George on Friday afternoon of this week. Rev. H.A. Smidt and Rev. L.H. Hayenga will officiate at the services, which will be in charge of the Vogelaar Funeral Service of George. The Military rites will be conducted by the Jack Sauter American Legion Post of George. Interment will be made in Evergreen Lawn Cemetery.
