Obituary:
Inwood, Iowa - Leone Reimers, 102, of Inwood, died Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at Fellowship Village, Inwood.

Memorial Service was held Friday, September 25 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Inwood, with burial the same day Richland Cemetery, Inwood. Porter Funeral Home, Inwood, in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

Leone Schemmel was born July 28, 1907 near Alvord, Iowa, daughter of Bernhard and Emma (Watke) Schemmel. She graduated the Rock Rapids High School, obtained her teaching degree at Iowa Teachers College at Cedar Falls, Iowa, and taught in a country school near Alvord for 5 years.

Leone married Elmer “Al” Reimers on June 7, 1930 at Minneapolis, MN where they lived for the next 11 years. Leone and Al moved to the Reimers farm west of Inwood in 1941 where Al farmed until they moved to Inwood in 1957. Al died June 8, 1978. Leone was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church including WELCA and Circles, the Priscilla and Chatorsew Clubs and enjoyed knitting. She moved to Fellowship Village in March 25, 2005.

Surviving relatives include her 2 sons: Bob (Sylvia) Reimers of Canton, SD, David (Ronda) Reimers of Gilford, NH; 3 grandchildren: Tom (Kristi) Reimers of Omaha, NE, Heidi (Charlie) Conley of Janesville, WI, Kim ( Rich) Sola of Boston, MA; 7 great-grandchildren: Laura and Sarah Reimers, Courtney and Melissa Conley, Kelly, Christopher and Ryan Sola.

Leone was preceded in death by her husband, Al; brothers: Walter and Albert Schemmel; sisters: Minnie Kock and Hilda Kock.
