Obituary:

Doon, Iowa - Grace Keizer, 85, died Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at Whispering Heights, Rock Valley, Iowa. Funeral service was held Friday at First Reformed Church, Doon with burial at Hillside Cemetery, Doon.

Grace Niemeyer was born April 1, 1924 to Walter and Hendrika (Van Grootheest) Niemeyer near Montpelier, North Dakota. Grace was united in marriage to William “Bill” Keizer on August 26, 1948 near Doon, Iowa. She was a homemaker and helped Bill on the farm northwest of Hull, Iowa, always busy with her chickens, cows and calves. After retiring in 1985, Grace and Bill moved to Doon, Iowa and Grace worked for the Foster Grandparent Program of River Valley for 18 years. She was very active in the various women’s organizations at First Reformed Church including adult choir. Grace enjoyed the fellowship she had with her neighbors and friends in the 3-G Club. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, Wheel of Fortune, word find puzzles and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her much joy in life.

Grace is survived by her husband, Bill; daughter, Harriet Green of Boyden, Iowa; two sons: Jerry (Angie) Keizer of Hull, Iowa and Henry (Susan) Keizer of Plankinton, So. Dak.; seven grandchildren: Sheila Green and her fiancé, Brad Stiles of Iowa City, Iowa, Shelly Green and her special friend, Daren Streett of Cary, NC, Sue (Jim) Goebel of Sioux Falls, SD, Kara (Chris) Van Meeteren of Hull, Iowa, Paul (April) Keizer of Sioux Falls, SD, Jeremy Keizer and his special friend, Stephanie Webber of Brandon, SD and Sterling Keizer of Plankinton, SD; six great-grandchildren: Kaylee, Whitney, Jace, Stella, Avery and Gabriel; a brother, Henry (Shirley) Niemeyer of George, Iowa; a sister, Theo (Dick) Keizer of Doon, Iowa; two brothers-in-law: John (Jen) Keizer of Hull, Iowa and Jim Keizer of Doon, IA; 2 sisters-in-law: Helene Niemeyer of Doon, Iowa and Fenna Winter of Sioux Center, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Jerry Green; brothers: Bill (Hester) Niemeyer and Gerrit Niemeyer; brother-in-law, Fritz Winter; sister-in-law, Pat Keizer.
