Ida Bechler, 84, of George died Friday, Nov. 30, 2001, at Sioux Valley Hospital, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Services were Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, George, with interment in Evergreen Lawn Cemetery.

Ida Blom was born Sept. 14, 1917, at George, the daughter of Charley and Allkie (Rippentrop) Blum. She grew up and attended school in Lyon County.

On Dec. 6, 1937, she married John Bechler at Luverne, Minn. They farmed in northwest Iowa where her husband also did trucking and custom work. In 1982, they retired and moved into George.

Survivors include her husband; five sons, Johnnie of Casa Grande, Ariz., Roger of Greeley, Colo., Ron and Robert, both of George, and Myron of Sheldon; two daughters, Mrs. Willie (Bev) Van Wyhe of Webster City and Mrs. Gene (Ida Mae) Kruger of George; 22 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one brother, Ben of Greeley, and two sisters, Sadie Leu of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Grace Hinders of Sibley.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Cort and Carl; one sister, Allkie Willnitz; one daughter, MaryAnne Smid, and two grandchildren, John Bechler and Lisa Bechler.
