Louis Schilling, 89, of Little Rock died Friday, Jan. 31, 2003, at Sioux Valley Hospital, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Services were Monday at Forster Community Center, Rock Rapids, with interment in Pleasant View Cemetery, Little Rock.

Mr. Schilling was born Oct. 30, 1913, near George, the son of Fred and Margarete (DeBoer) Schilling. He grew up near George and received his education at Grant Center School District.

On March 4, 1936, he married Mildred Heikes in Rock Rapids. They lived in California one year while he worked at Voltic Aircraft Co. at Long Beach. They moved to Kansas City., Mo., looking for employment but returned to Iowa. They farmed near George 39 years. In 1978 they retired and moved to Little Rock.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Ervis of Adrian, Minn., and LaVerla of George; one daughter, Mrs. Bob (Lois Ann) of Northglenn, Colo.; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John and George, and one sister, Lillian Van Stelten.
