Alice Jansen, 89, of George died Monday, Jan. 27, 2003, at George Good Samaritan Center.

Services were Thursday at Central Baptist Church, George, with interment in Evergreen Lawn Cemetery.

Alice Krull was born Dec. 26, 1913, near George, the daughter of Hillary and Minnie (Kix) Krull. She attended country school near George.

On Dec. 27, 1938, she married Henry Jansen. They lived in George. She worked in the George Community School lunch room and Dinner Date. She had been a resident of George Good Samaritan Center the past two months.

She received a Volunteer Award from Gov. Branstad. At Central Baptist church, she was a Sunday School teacher and active in the women's group.

Survivors include one son, Arnold of Sioux Falls, S.D.; one daughter, Mrs. Dennis (Marvella) Krahling of Sheldon; four granddaughters; eight great-grandchildren and one sister, Phyllis Peters of George.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter, Noreen Jansen; one granddaughter, Wendy Jansen; one sister, Harriet Ackerman, and six brothers, Edward, Ernest, George, Fred, Wilfred and Virgil.
