Obituary:

Doon, Iowa: Marilyn Jacobsma, 72, died Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at her home. Memorial Service was Monday, July 13 at First United Methodist Church, Doon. There will be no prior visitation. Pastor Steve Swenson will be officiating. Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley is in charge of arrangements.

Marilyn E. Fylstra was born January 15, 1937 at Hull, Iowa, daughter of Orin and Dorothy (Warntjes) Fylstra. Marilyn married Dave Jacobsma on November 18, 1955 in Boyden, Iowa. Together they lived in many places Boyden, Doon, Sheldon and Denison, Iowa, Wayne, Nebraska, Humbolt, Iowa and Independence, Missouri before retiring to Doon in 1987 as Dave worked for Standard Oil Company.

Marilyn loved to cook, decorate her home, teaching Sunday school and was a currant member of First United Methodist Church. Marilyn also enjoyed collecting Barbie dolls.

Marilyn is survived by her husband, Dave; daughters: Peggy Anson of Sloan, Iowa and Patricia (Pete) Johnson of Independence, Missouri; five grandchildren: David (Kristi) Anson of Tampa, Florida, Heather (Ryan) Weiand of Cheyenne, Wyoming, John Anson of Ramstein, Germany, Alexandria Anson of Sloan, Iowa and Maxwell Johnson of Independence, Missouri; four great-grandchildren: Payton Weiand, Paige Weiand, Tim Anson and Faith Weiand; step-mother, Christina Fylstra of Bellflower, Calif.; brother, Ron (Iva) Fylstra of Lexington, Kentucky; sister Jean (Marion) Miersma of Modesta, Calif.
