ZOET, Kathryn (De Zeeuw ) 1946-2009

Mrs. Kathryn Zoet, age 87, of Hull, passed away on Monday, February 9, 2009, at the Fellowship Village in Inwood. Funeral services were held on Thursday, February 12, at 2:30pm, at the First Reformed Church in Hull. Interment followed at the Hope Cemetery in Hull.

Kathryn Willemina was born on May 2, 1921, at Orange City, the daughter of Pleun and Jennie (Wiersema) De Zeeuw. She was raised in the Middleburg and Boyden area, where she attended the Capel No. 9 country school.

On May 2, 1946, she married Johan Andrew Zoet in Middleburg. They farmed at Hull, where she was a homemaker and assisted her husband. She was also employed at the Pleasant Acres Nursing Home in Hull and served as a foster grandma at Hope Haven in Rock Valley. “Joe” passed away on July 22, 1989, in Rock Valley, after more than 43 years of marriage.

Mrs. Zoet moved into Hull in November of 1989. She was a member of the First Reformed Church, where she belonged to their ladies aid. She enjoyed reading, raising flowers, embroidering, and babysitting her many grandchildren.

Survivors include four children and their spouses, Harrietta Niemeyer and Philip and Karen Zoet, all of Hull; and Lisa and Mark Van Der Brink and Lori and Steve Reintsma, all of Rock Valley; nineteen grandchildren and their spouses, Paula and Mike Steffes, Joel and Pam Niemeyer, Kim and Jeff Hoogendoorn, Michael and April Niemeyer, Michelle and Bob Reisch, Melanie Beech, Brady and Lori Bakker, Kristie and Tim Van Leeuwen, Heather Bagshaw, Heidi Bakker, Nicholas Van Der Brink, Joseph Van Der Brink, Sarah Van Der Brink, Matthew Reintsma, Rebecca Reintsma, Tyler Reintsma, Amanda Swearingen, Nick Swearingen, and Adam Schultz; and twelve great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Janith Faye Schuldt; three grandchildren, Jason Bakker, Katie Reintsma, and Monica Zoet; a grandson-in-law, Ben Bagshaw; and a sister and her husband, Ann and Peter Leusink.
