Obituary: Rock Valley, Iowa: Lois Collenbaugh, 75, of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, formerly of Rock Valley, died Sunday, April 12, 2009 at Mercy Hospital, Sioux City. Funeral Service were held Friday at Pioneer United Methodist Church, Rock Valley with burial at Valley View Cemetery.

Lois Ruby Moore was born September 5, 1933 on the homestead near Alvord, Iowa, daughter of Clifton and Elsie (Hamann) Moore. She graduated from the Rock Valley Public High School. Lois married John Collenbaugh on January 4, 1954 at Rock Valley. They lived in Chicago while John served in the U.S. Army and then in Rock Valley where John owned and operated Collenbaugh Motors later Collenbaugh Auto Parts. Lois enjoyed painting, embroidering, taking care of the yard, and especially enjoyed her children’s and later her grandchildren’s activities. John died on October 13, 2001. Lois moved to the Floyd House at Sergeant Bluff in November of 2008.

Lois is survived by her 4 children, Dan (Monica) Collenbaugh of Rock Valley; Mary Halsey and friend Ron Malsam of Watertown, South Dakota, Lisa (Bob) Hanson of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, Cathy Collenbaugh of South Sioux City, Nebraska; grandchildren, Ashley (Micah) Vis, Angela Halsey, Amy (Ryan) Halling, Christopher Halsey, Mike (Jenny) Hanson, and Blake Hanson; great-grandchildren, Colin Hanson, Raven Kelly, Vanessa Halling, and Audra Hanson; brother, Jim (Jane) Moore of Lakewood, Colorado; sisters, Mavis Vugteveen of Rock Valley, Marcia (Oscar) Benson of Sheldon, Iowa, Karen Easton of Marshall, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cliff and Elsie Moore; husband, John; brothers-in-law, Walter Vugteveen and Gary Easton.
