Mrs. Jennie De Haan, of Madison, South Dakota, 94, died Sunday noon, February 7, 1955 in Madison, after a lingering illness.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, in the West Center Baptist church, with burial in the Ramona cemetery.

Jennie Henrietta Van Dornum was born March 3, 1861 in Germany. The family came to the United States in 1863 and settled at Pekin, Illinois. They then moved to Steamboat Rock, Iowa in 1873.

She was married to Samuel De Haan July 29, 1890 in Steamboat Rock. The couple settled on a farm near Ramona about 1910. In January, 1941 the moved to Madison. Mr. De Haan died June 18, 1941. Three sisters, one brother and one daughter also preceeded Mrs. De Haan in death.

Survivors include five children, Albert and Della De Haan, Mrs. Anna Packar of Madison, Samuel De Haan, Woonsocket, South Dakota, and Mrs. Mina Sutherland, Los Angeles, California; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.

They lived in and around George, Iowa before they moved to Ramana, for quite a number of years. Mr. De Haan worked in a store here and also taught school for a number of years.
