Fred C. Hass, 57, George farmer, passed away at the Rock Rapids, Iowa hospital at 4:30 Saturday morning, February 5, 1955. Mr. Hass had been ill for about two months and after surgery at Rochester, Minnesota, it was discovered that he was suffering with cancer of the brain. He returned home and was taken to the Rock Rapids hospital where everything possible was done to relieve his suffering.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, February 8, 1955 from the Hass residence just north of George and from the tabernacle Baptist church in George, with Rev. Harm Johnson officiating. Interment was in the First Baptist Church cemetery north of George.

Fred C. Hass, son or Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hass, was born near Steamboat Rock, Iowa on the 13th day of June, 1897. In 1911 he came with his parents, to Lyon county, Iowa and settled on a farm one-half mile north of George, where he grew to manhood. In 1920 he was united in marriage to Miss Lena Stomberg. The parents retired and moved to George while the remained on the same farm.

Three children (one died in infancy) came into their home. However there was sorrow in 1928, when his wife was taken from his side very suddenly and later in February of 1943 their son Robert after a short illness, passed away.

In all these trying experiences Mr. Hass learned to put his trust in the Lord.

In September 1943 he was united in marriage to Martha Stomberg.

Hr Hass enjoyed good health until about two months ago. When it was discovered, his condition was serious, he was taken to Rochester, where after surgery it was found to be cancer of the brain. After about ten days he was brought back to the Rock Rapids hospital where on Saturday morning at about 4:30 the Lord saw fit to release him and take him home, having reached the age of 57 years, 7 months and 22 days.

He leaves to mourn his wife, one daughter, Margaret, Mrs. John H. Snuttjer, four sisters and one brother: Minnie (Mrs. John Frey) of Iowa Falls, Iowa; Wieb; Anna (Mrs. Harm Hendricks); Freda and Rena, all of George, Iowa and 3 grandchildren, besides hosts of relatives and friends.
