UGLAND, TOBIASON, SEVERSON

Nels M. Ugland, son of Jesina Tobiason Ugland and Edward Ugland, was born May 7, 1894 at Colman, South Dakota. He lived there for a short time and then moved to the Klondike, Iowa area where he grew up. After his marriage to Lottie Severson at her parents’ home near Valley Springs on April 3, 1918, they farmed in the Larchwood, Brandon, and Valley Springs area. They moved to the Palisades Manor in Garretson, South Dakota, in the summer of 1981 and she preceded him in death on Dec. 6, 1981.

He was a member of the Brandon Lutheran Church where he had served on the Church Council and had also been a member of the Brandon School Board.

Grateful for having shared his life are one son, Lloyd, Midland, Texas; one daughter, Mrs. A. S. (Eunice) Christensen, El Paso, Texas; seven grandchildren, John, James and Alan Christensen, David Ugland, Susan Harnagel, Joanne Grieder, and Ann Shirlee Whitehawk; seven great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Inga Stensland, Canton, South Dakota; Mrs. Bert (Mildred) Castle, Sioux Falls; and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to his wife, Lottie, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Ted, Hjalmer, and Art; and two sisters, Edith Benson and Thelma Severson.

Friends and relatives are invited to gather with the family at the Brandon Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall following the funeral service and prior to departure for Larchwood.
