Valley Springs Woman Succumbs

Mrs. Lars O. Severson Dies--Husband Succumbs Month Ago

Mrs. Lars O. Severson, 75, whose husband died November 24, succumbed to a year's illness Wednesday night at her home at Valley Springs, South, Dakota.

She was born July 22, 1869 near Ossian, Winnesheik county, Iowa, and came to Dakota Territory when she was 16 years old, settling in the Brandon vicinity. Her marriage occurred on December 21, 1889, at Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Mrs. Severson was a member of the Lutheran church and active in church organizations. The Severson family lived on a farm in Lyon county, Iowa, from 1891 until a year ago when they retired, moving to Larchwood, Iowa., and later purchasing a home in Valley Springs, South Dakota.

Survivors are four sons, Elmer, Hettinger, North Dakota.; Stenno and Arthur, both of Valley Springs; and Lester, Mankato, Minnesota.; five daughters. Mrs. John Thompson, Sioux Falls; Mrs. Nels Ugland, Brandon, South Dakota; Mrs. G. A. Lines, Minneapolis, Minnesota; Mrs. Ralph Kemis, Spencer, Iowa., and Myrtle, Sioux Falls; 14 grandchildren, of whom four grandsons and one granddaughter are in the service; six great-grandchildren; and one brother, Chris Anderson, Fox Home, Minnesota.

Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Miller funeral chapel. Rev. John Mason, Brandon will officiate and Mrs. C. B. Van Ausdall will be organist. Burial will be at Larchwood, Iowa beside the grave of her husband.
