Funeral services for Elra Anthony Jacobs, who was killed in an auto accident while returning from northern Minnesota on Wednesday, September 13, 1961 were held Saturday, September 16, 1961 at the Ebenezer Presbyterian church, George, Iowa. The Rev. George W. Buchin officiated. Vogelaar Funeral Service was in charge of the arrangements. Burial was made in the Evergreen Lawn cemetery west of George.

Elra was riding in a pickup driven my Marion Korthals, 34, of George, on their way home from a northern Minnesota fishing trip. Another member of the party, Everett Jansen, 46, of George, was hospitalized with Korthals at Alexandria, Minnesota, both in satisfactory condition.

The occupants of the car were Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Olson of Parkers Prairie, Minnesota. Mrs. Olson was reported in critical condition, while her husband suffered minor injuries.

Elra Anthony Jacobs was born in George, Iowa, on July 14, 1898 to Anthony and Elizabeth Jacobs. When death came by accident, he had reached the age of 63 years, 1 month and 29 days.

Elra and Frieda Bruns were united in marriage at Eldora, Iowa on February 22, 1921.

To this union, two daughters were born; Enola, Mrs. Dick Harberts, of Jefferson, Iowa; and Norma, Mrs. David Visser, of George, Iowa.

Elra is preceded in death by his parents, one brother in infancy and one brother, Lawrence.

He is survived by his wife, his two daughters and eight grandchildren; by a sister, Sylvia Jacobs of George, Iowa; a brother, Orval, of George; a twin sister, Elva, Mrs. Frank Johnson of Omaha, Nebraska; and a brother, Glenn of Rock Rapids, Iowa and many other relatives and friends.

Elra spend his entire life farming in the vicinity of George, Iowa. Early in his life he became a member of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church of George.
