Glenda Buss, age 66 of Doon, Iowa died Wednesday, January 14, 2009, at her home in Doon, after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services were held Saturday, January 17th at the First United Methodist Church in Doon, with burial at the Hillside Cemetery in Doon.

Glenda Gay Buss was born September 27, 1942 at the family farm near George, Iowa, the daughter of Walter and Margaret (Goldhorn) Hansmann. She attended country school until her family moved to Sheldon, Iowa, where she attended Sheldon High School.

Glenda was united in marriage to John Buss on August 13, 1960 at the Presbyterian Church in Ashton, Iowa. They lived in various places, such as Sheldon, Iowa, LeMars, Iowa, Rochester, New York, Greeley, Colorado and in 1972 they settled in Doon. She worked at various places, such as Tyson Foods, Harkers, Groschopp and most recently, the Golden Crisp and Holiday Inn Express, all in Sioux Center, Iowa.

She was member of the First United Methodist Church of Doon. She enjoyed making baby blankets, camping, bowling, having coffee with her friends, working outdoors, and being with her family. Through the years Glenda and her family were blessed with many trips to Valley Fair, and vacation in New York. This past Wednesday, January 14, 2009, Glenda died at her home in Doon, Iowa after a four year battle with cancer, at the age of 66.

Left to cherish her memory, is her loving husband of 48 years, John Buss of Doon, Iowa; three children, Sheila (Jeff) Meyer of Sioux Center, Iowa, Eddie Buss of Doon, Iowa and Mike Buss (girlfriend, Sheila Van Houten) of Alvord, Iowa; four grandchildren, Justin and Nick Buss and Kristin and Tyler Meyer; one great-granddaughter, Cadence Buss; one sister, Genevive (Bob) Haviland of Rock Rapids, Iowa; one brother, Arthur (Donna) Hansmann of Churchville, New York; and many other extended family.

She was preceded in death by her son, Rick Buss; parents, Walter and Margaret Hansmann; sister, Dallis Deutsch; brother, Delbert Hansmann; brother, Waldo John Hansmann; an infant brother; parents-in-law, Albert and Berniece Buss; and sister-in-law, Joan Buysman.
