Marcella Bennett, 80, of Sioux Falls, S.D., died Monday, Dec. 23, 2002, at Good Samaritan Village.
Funeral mass was Saturday at Christ the King Church, Sioux Falls.

Marcella Kerkvliet was born Jan. 22, 1922, in Larchwood, the daughter of Gerard and Mathilda (Von Acken) Kerkvliet. She graduated from St. Mary's High School in Larchwood in 1940. She then worked as the secretary for the USO in California.
On Sept. 9, 1943, she married Frank Bennett in Larchwood. They moved to Sioux Falls in 1948. She worked at Montgomery Wards, JCPenny's and retired from Sears.

Her husband died Jan. 17, 1997.

She is survived by three sons, Gerald of Duluth, Minn., and Thomas and Paul, both of Sioux Falls; five daughters, Mrs. Robert (Sharon) Richardson of Milwaukee, Wis., Mrs. John (Gloria) Soderquist of Rapid City, S.D., Mrs. Barry (Diane) Maeschen of Sioux Falls, Mrs. Brian (Michele Bennett) Hines of Huron, S.D., and Marcia Bennett of St. Paul, Minn.; 27 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, William and Ferd, both of Larchwood, and two sisters, Mrs. Eldon (Veronia) Gradert of Luverne, Minn., and Mrs. Irwin (Agnes) Friedrich of Alvord.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters and one brother.
