Raymond B. Lamfers was born September 5, 1922 at George, Iowa, the son of Ralph and Essie (Stubbe) Lamfers. He lived his youth southwest of George. Raymond attended country school and George High School..

He married Jeanette Korthals on March 5, 1945. They farmed west of George. He loved farming and farmed all his life. He served on the George Farmers’ Coop Association Board for 10 years. Raymond was a member of Hope Reformed Church, serving on the consistory. He also enjoyed playing softball, bowling and going fishing.

Raymond Lamfers died Tuesday, August 6, 2002, at his home at the age of 79. He leaves to cherish his memories; his wife Jeanette of George, Iowa; one son, Roger and wife Charnele Lamfers of Rock Rapids; four daughters: Shirley and husband John Symens of Amherst, South Dakota; Donna and husband Harm Aning of Eureka, Missouri; Jeanne and husband Galen Breuer of Hull, Iowa; and June and husband Mark Rauschan of Wet Jordan, Utah. Also left to cherish his memories are 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Elvin and wife Ruth Lamfers of Sun City, Arizona; two sisters, Frieda Eide of Riceville, Iowa and Anna and husband Hessel DeJong of Rock Rapids, Iowa.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Carol; one sister, Bernice Becker; and three grandchildren, Colleen and Sheryl Symens; and Christopher Rauschan

Funeral services for Raymond Lamfers were held Friday, August 9, 2002 at Hope Reformed Church of rural George, Iowa with burial the same day in the church cemetery.
