Patrick Munns, age 58 of Rock Rapids, IA died Monday, November 3, 2008 at the Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.

Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, November 7th at Holy Name Catholic Church in Rock Rapids. Burial was at Holy Name Catholic Cemetery in Rock Rapids.

Patrick Francis Munns was born April 7, 1950 in Rock Rapids, Iowa, the son of Gerald and Isabelle (Kellihan) Munns. He grew up on a farm and attended Central Lyon Community Schools, graduating in 1968. After his education he entered the U.S. Army where he served five years before receiving his honorable discharge. He was married to Judy Anderson of Larchwood, IA in 1970. He lived in Larchwood while working for Sioux Falls Cable Company. In 1983, Patrick returned to Rock Rapids to help with the family farm. In 1995 he moved to Madison, South Dakota where he worked as a plumber and electrician. In 2002, Patrick returned to the family farm in Rock Rapids and remained there. He enjoyed hunting, animals, and had a life long passion for baseball, playing for the Central Lyon High School, American Legion and town team in Larchwood and played AA baseball in San Francisco, California. His family remembers Patrick as a free spirit who experienced life on his own terms.

This past Monday, November 3, 2008, Patrick died unexpectedly at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD, at the age of 58.

He is survived by his son, Shawn Munns of Denver, Colorado; parents, Gerald and Isabelle Munns of Rock Rapids, IA; a brother, Michael Munns of Rock Rapids, Iowa; two sisters, Peggy (Steve) Groves of Larchwood, Iowa, Eileen (Tim) Peters of Madison, South Dakota; six nieces and nephews, Erin (Monte) Johanning of Brandon, South Dakota, Mike (Beth) Payne of Inwood, Iowa, Tara Payne of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Caitlin Payne of Ames, Iowa, Kara Peters and Hailey Peters, both of Madison, South Dakota; and many other extended family.
