I was born on October 3, 1932 in Edna, Lyon county, Iowa. My parents were Fredrick and Grace (Krull) Nagel. I attended one year of country school, the rest of my school years were in the George Public School. I graduated in 1950. I worked in various restaurants in Rock Rapids and George, Iowa and Bryant, South Dakota.

I was a baptized member of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church. I was baptized in 1938.

On March 22, 1952, I married Gilbert Bathke in the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, George, Iowa. Gil and I lived in South Dakota until he entered the Service. I returned to George. We then made our home in George. I did domestic work until 1976 – then I did the bookwork for the gas station in George. I taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, served on the altar committee, carpet committee, and archive committee. I did volunteer work at the nursing home, helping sew baby blankets. I was a Brownie Scout leader for several years. I enjoyed do-days at church. I was confirmed in August of 1952 at St. John Luthreran church in Bancroft, South Dakota.

I enjoyed crocheting, knitting and doing crafts – making special ornaments for the grandchildren, how special!

Survivors are my husband, Gil, three sons, Joel and Charlene, Michael and Debra, James and Kayleen, all of George, one daughter, Sherry Bathke of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Nine grandchildren, Ryan, Justin, Joshua, Matthew, Becky, Katie, Jessie, Erin and Dilon. One brother, George and Donna Nagel of Richville, Minnesota, three sisters, Marjorie (Mrs. Gary Stoehr) of Grundy Center, Iowa, Mary Jane (Mrs. Larry Coe) of Ventura, Iowa, Shirley (Mrs. Arnold A\Wallinga) of Hull, Iowa and many nieces, nephews and friends.

I was preceded in death by my parents and one sister, Mavis Joann.
