Virgil M. Huff was born August 31, 1923 at rural Ashton, Iowa. He was the son of Leo and Grace (Petrich) Huff. He was a life-long resident of the George, Lyon county, Iowa, and Ashton area.

Virgil attended rural school and George High School. On October 1, 1946 he married Ardyce Greve at Melvin, Iowa. He lived on the home farm all of his life until they moved into George in August of 1989

Virgil was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in George, serving on the Centennial Committee and numerous councils. He was very active in the community serving many years on the Lyon Rural Electric Cooperative Board, Lyon/Sioux Rural Water Board, Farmer’s Elevator Board of George and was director of the George Development Corporation.

Virgil passed away suddenly on Sunday, March 6, 1994 from a brief illness, at the age of 70 years, six months and six days. He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Ardyce of George, Iowa and five children; Sheryl and husband Dennis Baucom, Michael and Steve, of Aurora, Colorado; Daryl Huff and Gary, Jeremy, Adam and Matthew of Rock Rapids, Iowa; Dianne and husband Gene Vogl, Lissa, Chad, Tanner and Katie of Rock Rapids, David and wife Cathy Huff, Marcie and Sam of Ashton, Iowa; and Debra and husband Robert Beres and Alex of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Also surviving are many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Virgil Huff were held Wednesday, March 9, 1994 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, George, Iowa with interment in Evergreen Lawn Cemetery west of George, Iowa.
