Funeral services for Henry Stubbe, Sr., 84, were held from the local Funeral Home and from the Ebenezer Presbyterian church in George, Lyon county, Iowa, on Monday, July 18. Interment was made in Evergreen Lawn Cemetery. Mr. Stubbe, a well-known resident of this community for many years, ; passed away on Thursday of last week, July 14, after suffering a stroke the previous week.

Henry Stubbe was born October 22, 1870, and died July 14, 1955, at the age of 84 years, 8 months and 22 days. Mr. Stubbe was born in the Nieuwe Beerta, Groningen, Netherlands where he lived until he was 22 years of age. He came to America in May, 1892, and was married on July 13, 1892 to Anna Modder in Illinois. Mr. and Mrs. Stubbe lived in Illinois for 15 years, and then moved to South Dakota, where they started farming. They lived in South Dakota for 4 years, and then came to Lyon County, where they resided sided ever since. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Stubbe retired in 1934.

Mr. Stubbe was the son of Jan Jans (John) Stubbe and Esse Bouman. He had 4 brothers, of whom one brother Anno is still living in Freeport, Illinois.

Beside this brother, Mr. Stubbe is survived by his wife, Mrs. Anna Modder Stubbe and nine children, 6 sons and three daughters: John, Herman, Fred, Enno, Henry, Charles; Annie (Mrs. Adolph Norman); Esther (Mrs. John Hinrichs); and Sena (Mrs. Albert Rustman.) All the children are of George, with the exception of Mrs. Adolph Norman, of Little Rock, also Lyon county, Iowa. Mr. Stubbe is, also survived by 27 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. 1 grandchild preceded him in death in infancy.
