Marie Kramer was born June 17, 1917 at rural George, Lyon county, Iowa. She was the daughter of Riner B. and Gertie (Meester) Harms. She attended country school and the George High School, graduating in 1934 at the age of 16.

She married John "Bun" Edwin Kramer of George, Iowa on September 9, 1937. They were married in Everly, Iowa. After their marriage they lived in George, where she was a member of the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, and Ladies' Aid. After her husband died, she continued to live in George until February of 2003, when she moved to the Christian Retirement Home in Sheldon, Iowa. Due to her failing health, she became a resident of the George Good Samaritan Center in August of 2006. She died there on May 5, 2007 at the age of 89.

She leaves to cherish her memories: one son, Norman and wife Cindy Kramer of Rock Rapids, Iowa; four daughters, Mickey and husband Jerry Goswick of George, Iowa; Janelle and husband Steve Gustafson of Storm Lake, Iowa; Janet and husband Bill Myers of Wausau, Wisconsin; and Darby Kramer and Dave Marsh of Mankato, Minnesota; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one daughter-in-law, Arlene Kramer of Sheldon, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband John "Bun"; one son, Gary; son-in-law Verlyn Bruns; granddaughter Kaye Bruns DeVaney; two brothers, Willard and Herman Harms; and one sister, Rosella Kramer.

The funeral service for Marie Kramer was held Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in George, Iowa with interment in Evergreen Lawn Cemetery west of George, Iowa
