Martha Lena Julius was born June 21, 1922 at rural George, Lyon county, Iowa. She was the daughter of Renke and Jennie (Houwen) Renken. She attended Dale Township School.

She married John Julius on March 3, 1944 at the Evangelical United Brethren parsonage in George. They lived their married life in Ashton, Iowa, Luverne, Minnesota and George. She was an active member of the Lyon County First Presbyterian Church, a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and she loved growing flowers.

Martha died on Thursday, May 25, 1995 at the Merrill Pioneer Community Hospital in Rock Rapids at the age of 72 years, 11 months, and five days.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband, John of George, Iowa; four children: Donna and husband William Meinen of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Betty and husband Robert Espinosa of New Boston, Michigan; Alan and wife Eleanor Julius of George, Iowa; and Ronald and wife Rhonda Julius of George, Iowa. Also left to cherish her memories are seven grandchildren: Dean and Alisa Meinen; Matthew and Adam Espinosa; Ashley and Abby Julius; Trishia Julius; brother Raymond Renken of Worthington, Minnesota; and sister, Mary Julius of Worthington, Minnesota.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Johnathan; four brothers and six sisters.
