Laurence "Loren" Richard Siebrands was born March 12, 1924 at George, Lyon county, Iowa the son of Dick and Trena (Goldhorn) Siebrands. He attended country school in Liberal Township near George. After his education he started farming with his brother, Richard on the Siebrands family farm, which was a century farm, northwest of George. Loren and his brother were always working together. He enjoyed farming, feeding cattle and hogs. His family will always remember him for his kindheartedness and willingness to help others. Loren had a great memory and could always remember family history and dates. About ten years ago Loren retired from farming. Loren was in and out of the George Good Samaritan Center with a couple of health issues and became a resident in October of 2001. This past Tuesday, February 4, 2003, before noon, he died at the George Good Samaritan Center in George at the age of seventy-eight.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his sisters, Margaret Krull of Beaver Creek, MN, Leota (Jack) Gerken of George and LaVonne (Alfred) Klaassen of Ellsworth, MN, along with his nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents, one sister Elvina Siebrands, two brothers Ben and Richard Siebrands, a sister-in-law Irene Siebrands, a brother-in-law Henry Krull, two nephews James Gerken and Murnice Popkes, and a great nephew Merlyn Popkes.

Funeral services were held at Hope Reformed church southwest of George on February 8, 2003, with interment in the cemetery adjacent to the church.
