Funeral services for Leo W. Schettler, 78, of Larchwood, Lyon county, Iowa were held December 29, 1992 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Larchwood, with interment in Larchwood Cemetery.

He died Saturday, December 26, 1992, in McKenna Hospital, Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Mr. Schettler was born January 28, 1914. He owned and operated a farm east of Larchwood.

On November 29, 1950, he married Edna L. Bormann in Larchwood.

During World War II he served in the South Pacific with the U. S. Army from August, 1941, until November, 1945. He retired from farming in 1977 and then moved into Larchwood in 1979.

He was a life-long member of the Flessner American Legion Post #561 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, James of Sioux City, Iowa, Gerald of Valley Springs, South Dakota, Allen of Larchwood, Iowa, and Eugene of Sheldon, Iowa; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Martin of Sherman, South Dakota and Alvin of Larchwood and four sisters, Margaret DeSmet, Emma Lucas and Mrs. Paul (Bert) Kramer, all of Larchwood, and Mrs. Bill (Clara) George of Rock Rapids, Iowa.
