Funeral services for Sister Bernadetta (Suano) Kitagawa OSF, 77, of Dubuque, Iowa were recently held in Dubuque.

She died December 17, 1992 at Mount Francis Holy Family Hall, Dubuque.

Suano Kitagawa was born March 2, 1915 in Temple, North Dakota. She was raised by the Peter Tille family, Rock Rapids, Lyon county, Iowa, since eight months of age. She attended Wilson High School in Rock Rapids until the 10th grade. She then was received into the St. Franciscan Order in Dubuque receiving the name of Sister Bernadetta in 1930.

She taught in numerous schools, including Sioux city, Monticello and Wahert High School in Dubuque until her semi-retirement in 1987.

Survivors include one brother, two sisters; Thelma Booth, Winton, California; Maxine Van Buren, Westminster, California; Bernadetta Haan and Paul Tille, Rock Rapids; nieces and nephews
