Funeral services for William, “Bob” Sydney Baron, 67, of Larchwood, Lyon county, Iowa, were held November 23, 1992, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, rural Inwood, with interment in Hills of Rest Cemetery, Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

He died Thursday, November 23, 1992 at Sioux Valley Hospital, Sioux Falls.

Mr. Baron was born March 23, 1925 in Garfield Township, Lyon county, Iowa. He grew up and attended school in Garfield Township. He farmed with his father near Doon, Lyon county, Iowa until 1943 when he moved to Beaver Creek, Minnesota. He continue farming until 1945.

On June 30, 1947, he married Darlene Wulf.

They lived in Sioux Falls where he worked for John Morrell and Company. In 1952, he joined the Sioux Falls Fire Department and retired in 1981 as captain. In 1981, they moved to Klondike and on October, 1991, the moved to Larchwood.

He was a member of the Fire Department Union, served as president of Sioux Falls Municipal Employees Association and was a member of the Elks and Athenians clubs.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Gordon of Denver, Colorado, and Leland of Pierre, South Dakota; two daughters, Darla Stickman of Omaha, Nebraska, and Marsha Hopper of Sioux Falls; six grandchildren and one sister, Harriet Ykema of Ontario, California.
