Funeral services for John D. Rypkema, 81, of George, Lyon county, Iowa were held September 26, 1992 in Lyon County First Presbyterian Church, George, with interment in Evergreen Lawn Cemetery west of town.

He died Thursday, September 24, 1992 at Lyon Manor Care Center, Rock Rapids, also in Lyon county.

Mr. Rypkema was born January 8, 1922 at Matlock, Obrien county, Iowa. He attended country school.

On February 23, 1933, he married Grace Geerdes. They farmed in the George area until retiring in town in 1973.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Donald of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Edward of Linton, North Dakota and Norman of George; one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Joan) Luitjens of George; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and two brothers, Ralph of George, and Marion of Denver, Colorado.
