Funeral services for Lucy Wiering, 94, of Larchwood, Lyon county, Iowa were held August 28, 1992 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Larchwood, with interment in the Larchwood Cemetery.

She died Tuesday, August, 25, 1992 in her home.

Lucy Agnes DeSmet was born December 9, 1897, in Rock Valley, Sioux County, Iowa, where she grew up and attended school.

On February 1, 1926, she married Jacob Wiering in Larchwood. They farmed in the Larchwood area until retiring to town in 1958. Her husband died in April, 1963, and she continued to live in Larchwood.

She was active in St. Mary’s Altar Society. Women’s Catholic Order of Foresters.

Survivors include one son, James Wiering of Larchwood; three daughters, Helen Stevens of Crystal Lake, Illinois, Mrs. John W. (Marcella) Zimmer and Mrs. Marvin (Frances) Bjerke, both of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; 24 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and two sisters, Martha Remmerde of Sioux Falls, and Alice Vugteveen of Rock Valley.
