Funeral services for Erwin Jake Hoekstra, 78, of Rock Rapids, Lyon county, Iowa were held September 29, 1992 in Christian Church (Disciples), Rock Rapids, with interment in Riverview Cemetery.

He died Saturday, September 26, 1992, in Sioux Valley Hospital, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, following a brief illness.

Mr. Hoekstra was born January 7, 1914, in Sheldon, Obrien county, Iowa, where he grew up and attended school. After his education he worked for area farmers.

On August 23, 1938, he married Myra Rosenberg in Denison, Iowa. They moved to Rock Rapids where they lived until moving to Michigan in 1942. While living in Michigan he worked in a tool and die shop. In 1948 they returned to Rock Rapids where the farmed until retiring in 1978. They moved into town in 1985.

Survivors include his wife; five sons, Jim of Laguna Hills, California, Gene of Dunnellon, Florida, Ed of Tucson, Arizona, Scott of Rock Rapids and Ron of Burnsville, Minnesota; two daughters, Myrna Plymire of Atlanta, Georgia and Barbara Hoekstra of Rock Rapids, 11 grandchildren and one brother, Ken of Denver, Colorado.
