Funeral services for Steven Ratus, 76, of Doon, Lyon county, Iowa were held July 6, 1992, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Rock Valley, Sioux county, Iowa with interment in Hillside Cemetery, Doon.

He died July 2, 1992 at McKennan Hospital, Sioux Fall, South Dakota.

Mr. Ratus was born January 14, 1916 at Labccou, Poland. He entered the Polish army in 1937 and was taken prisoner of war by the Germans in September, 1939. After six years in a prison camp in Austria, the camp was liberated.

In 1951 he came to the United States to the Doon area and worked for several farmers until he was able to farm his own land north of Doon in 1967. He retired and moved into Doon in 1985.

There are no know surviving relatives.
