SWANSON, NORMAN 1927 - 1992
Norman Swanson was born March 22, 1927 at Larchwood, Iowa on the farm where he lived his entire life. He graduated from Larchwood High School. On April 20, 1954, he was united in marriage to Betty Lou Fish in Lester, Iowa. He farmed until 1983. He died at Good Samaritan Luther Manor after a long illness.

Norman was a member of Grandview Covenant Church. He was a member of the Moose Lodge No. 503 and held various offices, including governor in 1980. Even after retirement, he retained an interest in farming, often checking the progress of the crops. He also enjoyed playing cards and dancing.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Betty Lou, Larchwood; 1 son, Jerry and his wife Doreen, Larchwood; 6 daughters and their husbands, Darrel and Candi Hanson, Sioux Falls, Craig and Pam Friedel, Sioux Falls, Gerrit and Becky Brands, Jr., Garretson, Ed and Lexy Sorensen, Omaha, Nebraska, Tim and Peggy Larson, Sioux Falls, and Tony and Vicki Evans, Pipestone, Minnesota; 11 grandchildren, Brandi Hanson, Christopher Friedel, Nicole Brands, Michelle Brands, Matthew Brands, Heather Sorensen, Anthony Swanson, Alicia Swanson, Danielle Larson, Benjamin Larson and Tyler Evans; 1 sister, Mrs. Lorraine Stepp, Redding, California; 4 nieces; 1 nephew; 6 great nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

The family of Norman Swanson thanks you for your support and presence today. Deep appreciation is also extended to all of the families, friends, medical and hospice personnel for all of your kindness, love and support throughout the difficult times of his illness. An invitation is extended to join them for refreshments and fellowship at the Moose Lodge, 1926 Burnside, after the service.
