(Lyon County News)

Funeral services were held from the Klaahsen home and from the Hope Reformed Church west of George, Lyon county, Iowa on June 21, 1950 for Arlys Klaahsen, age 17, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fed Klaahsen, of this community.

Arlys Anne Klaahsen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Klaahsen, was born on April 13, 1933, at Little Rock, Lyon county, Iowa. When she was 7 years of age, her parents moved to this community (George, Iowa) where Arlys made many friends and acquaintances. Arlys attended the local grade school until her graduation (from 8th grade) in 1947. She ten attended high school in George, being a Junior at the time when she took sick.

Arlys had not been feeling well for some time, but was not aware of the seriousness of her condition until May 11, when her parents took her to the Hull, Sioux county, Iowa hospital for examination. When her case was considered very serious, she was taken to Rochester, Minnesota, on May 13, where she underwent surgery.

She recovered speedily from the operation, but the dread disease had already taken such effect on her body that she could not be well again. She was home about a week when her condition made it necessary to return to the hospital on June 8.

On June 18, at 10:15 a. m., Arlys was called to her eternal reward at the age of 17 yrs, 2 mnths and 5 days. It came as a great shock to her dear ones and friends, that one so young and so beloved should be called from this life.

There remain to mourn her passing, her father and mother, three brothers, Kenneth, Harlan and Roger. Many relatives and dear ones with a host of friends remember Arlys with tender memories.
