(Lyon County News -- January 19, 1950)

Mildred Fie Wilsey was born on September 22, 1902 in George, Lyon county, Iowa, the fourth child of the late Mrs. And Mrs. E. C. Fie. This town has been her home always. It has been the spot dearest in her affection and the setting for all significant occasions of her life.

Here she was married on April 2, 1925 to William P. Wilsey. Here they established their home and labored and loved together in building the childhood happiness and characters of their two children.

Everyone who knows Mildred will have his own personal remembrance of her. Many will think of her loyal and conscientious service in all of the organizations to which she belonged. Many will remember her as a kindly neighbor and a true friend. All will remember her as an honest, sincere and courageous soul, and a worthy citizen in all walks of live.

The last chapter in her earthly life closed January 11, 1950. In man’s calendar, forty seven years is a short life-span. But, He who counts a thousand years but as a day and a day as a thousand years, has taught us that the measure of a life is in the quality of living, rather than in its quantity of days.

Mildred is survived by her husband, William, a son Richard Lee, age ten, and a daughter Carol Mae, age eight. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an older brother, Asa who died in infancy, and a younger brother, Chester, who was missing in action in World War II. Other survivors include to brothers, George and Lyle Fie, of George, Iowa; two sisters, Avis, Mrs. Rodney Douglass of Kasson, Minnesota and Gladys, Mrs. Harry Graffam of Des Moines, Iowa, and other family relatives.
