Lammert Modder, 80, a resident of George, Lyon county, Iowa for 15 years and of this community for many years died at his home in George on January 5, 1950 after a long illness. Mr. Modder had been in poor health for the past two years. He submitted to a major operation some time ago, and seemed to be some improved at times. His old age and other complications caused his death.

Mr. Modder was born in 1869 in Nieuw-Beerta, Groningen in the Netherlands. On May 16, 1896 he was united in marriage to Antje (Anna) Tuin in Nieuw-Beerta.

Besides his wife, Mr. Modder is survived by two sons, Harm and George, both of this community; also a daughter, Mrs. Cornelius (Anna) Schol, of Worthington, Minnesota, and a sister, Mrs. Henry W. Stubbe, Sr., of George.

Funeral Services will be held from the Modder home on January 9, 1950 from the Modder home and then from the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in George.
