James D. Anderson, 73, of Hawarden died on Wednesday, April 29, 1998 near Chatsworth. Services were held on Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Hawarden, with interment in Grace Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Anderson was born May 19, 1924 in Doon, Lyon county, Iowa, the son of Andrew and Kate (Erickson) Anderson. He graduated from Doon high school in 1941. He served in the army air corps during World War II. Following his discharge he attended South Dakota State University, graduating in 1950. He taught school in Scotland, S.D., and later worked for Citizens First National Bank in Storm Lake.

On June 16, 1962 he married Dorothy Lullman in Storm Lake. They lived in Hawarden where he was employed with Farmers State Bank and First State Bank in Hawarden. He was then employed as a real estate broker.

Survivors include his wife, one son, Farrell of Canton, S.D.; one daughter, Susan Anderson of Sioux Falls, S.D.; three grandchidlren; one brother, W.C. "Speek" of Rock Valley, and one sister, Frances Smith of Rock Valley.
