Funeral services were held on April 19, 1961 for Fritz Sohl, 85, from the funeral home in George, Lyon county, Iowa., followed by services at St. John’s Lutheran Church south of George. Interment was made in the St. John’s cemetery adjacent to the church.

Fritz Sohl passed away at the Rock Rapids, Lyon county, Iowa Merrill Pioneer Memorial Hospital at 10:00 A. M. on April 16, 1961.

He was born in Buelkau, Hanover, Germany on March 8, 1876. His parents were Johan and Mina Sohl. In 1894 the Sohl family came to the United States. This family was comprised of the parents, 5 sons and 1 daughter. Fritz Sohl entered into marriage with Margretha Boelke, a you woman of the Boyden-George community. For about 25 years they lived in this community on a farm four miles north of Boyden, Obrien county, Iowa.

In 1931 they retired from the farm and made their home in Sheldon, Obrien county, Iowa. In 1947 Mrs. Sohl died. Mr. Sohl then made his home in George until he was unable to live alone because of feebleness brought on by old age.

For nearly a year he lived with Mr. and Mrs. Waldo Hollander, who were living on his home place north of Boyden. Since August of 1960 he has been a patient of the Rock Rapids Merrill Pioneer Community Hospital and on April 16, he died at the age of 85 yrs, 1 mth and 8 days.

His parents and four brothers as well as one sister, together with his wife, preceded him in death.
