Memorial services for Verona Maertz, 79, of Sibley, Osceola county, Iowa were held on January 18, 1992 at the United Church of Christ Congregational in Sibley.

She died January 12, 1992 at the Marion Health Center in Sioux City, Woodbury county, Iowa.

Verona Brunsma was born March 12, 1912. She attended school in George, Lyon county, Iowa. After graduating from high school, she attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa and later received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Northwestern College.

She taught in rural schools near George, Little Rock, Lyon county, Iowa Public School and in the George Community School. She retired after teaching in the Sibley public school.

She married Charles E. Maertz, Jr.; he died in 1987. Survivors include two sons, one daughter and one brother.
