Funeral services for Harry L. Marr, 83, of Spencer, Iowa, were held at Warner Funeral Chapel there on Monday. Burial was in Riverview cemetery in Rock Rapids.

He died on Thursday, February 19, 1981, at the Spencer hospital.

Marr was born June 10, 1897, in Rock Rapids, Lyon County, Iowa, to Charles and Lydia Holliday Marr. He married Hattie Beaman on Oct. 31, 1929 at Rock Rapids. She died on Nov. 6, 1969.

Marr was game warden for many years and a stone cutter by trade. He was also employed by the Rock Island line for many years before moving to Spencer. He worked for Swift and company for 25 years before retiring in 1962.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Roland (Shirley Ann) Burnell, Everly; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A committal service was held here this afternoon for Harry Marr, of Spencer, Iowa, who died on Thursday after a brief illness. He was 83 years of age.

Born in Rock Rapids, Lyon county, Iowa, he had attended the local schools, and for some years he worked with this father and the Hollidays in the ice business. Later he worked with Alex Getz Produce company. He left here in the 1920's to move to Spencer where he has lived since. His family is gone, and he had lived alone in Spencer until the last few weeks when he was in and out of the hospital.
