Ralph Theodore Hagedon was born September 7, 1921 in Rock Rapids, Iowa the son of Albert and Anna (Johnson) Hagedon. He grew up and attended school in Rock Rapids, graduating from Rock Rapids High School in 1940. From 1943 to 1944 Ralph served his country in the US Army. He was involved in campaigns in the European Theater including North Africa, Sicily, Italy and Southern France. He was wounded by shrapnel in France and was awarded the Purple Heart. Ralph ran several busineses in the Rock Rapids area including a greenhouse and salvage yard.

Following several days of treatment, Ralph died at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Sioux Falls on November 14, 2000 at the age of 79. He was interred at Rosehill Cemetary in Parker, SD, with military honors.

Survivors include his wife, Angie, of Rock Rapids, and one son, Brian, of Eldora, IA, and two grandchildren, Matthew and Sarah, both of Eldora IA.

Also surviving are one brother, Duane, of Sioux City, three sisters, Annabelle and Marjorie of Rock Rapids and Clare of Okoboji.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; three sisters, Katherine, and twins in infancy.
