HATCH, J.H.
ANOTHER PIONEER GONE.
Another pioneer of Lyon County has departed from this life after living a just and honorable existence. On last Sunday morning J.H. Hatch suddenly expired from heart trouble, superinduced by stomach trouble, from which he had suffered acutely for more than a year. Mr. Hatch was born in Nova Scotia in July 1844, and came to America and settled near Morrison, Illinois on a farm. In 1871 he came to Lyon County and entered a homestead in Elgin Township, on which he resided for 29 years, respected by his neighbors and admired by his old acquaintances for his exceptional fine traits of character. The recipients ever now remember his numerous acts of kindness in pioneer days. He leaves three daughters and two sons to mourn his demise. The funeral occurred at Little Rock under the auspices of the I.O.O.F., of which he has long been a member in high standing.
