Ralph Rypkema, 90, of Sheldon died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002, at Northwest Iowa Health Center in Sheldon.

Services were Monday at Lyon County First Presbyterian Church, rural George, with interment in Evergreen Lawn Cemetery.

Mr. Rypkema was born near Matlock, the son of Dick and Agnes (Vander Kooi) Rypkema. He attended country school.

On Dec. 18, 1934, he married Grace Veenker. They farmed near Maurice before moving to the George area. In 1980 they retired to George. In 1999 they moved to Christian Retirement Center, Sheldon.

At Lyon County First Presbyterian Church, he had various offices and was a Sunday School teacher several years.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Stanley; four daughters, Mrs. Bill (Eileen) Sudenga, Mrs. Dennis (Agnes) Dykstra, Mrs. Jeff (Lola) Fuhs and Mrs. Don (Twila) Kuchel; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and one brother, Marion.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two grandsons; three brothers, Bill, John and Ben, and two sisters, Elizabeth and Mary.
