Mrs. Pruitt, 71, Larchwood, Dies Services to Be Held There Thursday for Lifelong Resident (Feb. 10, 1947)
Mrs. Helen Pruitt, 71, Larchwood, Iowa., pioneer who lived all her life there, died yesterday in a local hospital after a lingering illness.

Helen Rulland was born July 2, 1875 at Larchwood, where she grew up and attended school. Later she taught there. She was married January 25, 1893 at Larchwood to James W. Pruitt, who died in 1926. The couple farmed near Larchwood before moving to town, where they ran a cafe for several years.

Mrs. Pruitt leaves two daughters Mrs. C.T. Swanson, Larchwood; Mrs Melvin Burns, Rock Rapids, Ia.; a son, Clayton R. Pruitt, and granddaughter, Claylene Ruth, Sioux Falls; and a brother, Arthur P. Arneson, Minneapolis.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Larchwood Community church. The Rev. Ralph Grote will officiate. Burial will be in the Larchwood cemetery.
