DUBBELDE, MINNIE BRANSTEDT 1907-2000
Minnie Hilda (Bramstedt) Dubbelde was born April 11, 1907, at Alvord, IA the daughter of Henry and Adelia (Schemmel) Bramstedt. Minnie grew up on the family farm and attended country school. After her education she worked for Berg's Grocery Store in Alvord, the bakery in Canton, and several area families homes. On January 5, 1937, she was united in marriage to Leo Dubbelde at Larchwood, IA. Following their marriage they started farming four miles west of Larchwood where they farmed until their retirement in1969. Upon retirement they moved into Larchwood, and their son Don took over the farming operation. In November of 1979, Leo died. Minnie continued to live in her home, keeping busy with handwork, crocheting, baking and bird watching. She was a life long member of The Church of St. Mary in Larchwood, serving on the Alter Society. Minnie's family vividly remembers going to grandma's home after church every Sunday for coffee and some sort of baked foods grandma had made. This past Sunday night, Minnie suffered a stroke and was hospitalized at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD, where she died this past Friday evening at the age of ninety-three.

Minnie was survived by five children, Shirley Harms and her husband, Robert of Brookings, SD; Janet Ostronic and her husband, George of Omaha, NE; Paul Dubbelde and his wife, Donna of Valley Springs, SD; Diane Fendrich of Omaha, NE and Donnald Dubbelde and his wife Louise of Larchwood, IA; along with seventeen grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; two brothers, Ed Bramstedt of Alvord; and Henry Bramstedt Jr. of Harrisburg, SD; and one sister, Tillie Stettnichs of Alvord. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Leo; three brothers, Louis and George Bramstedt and Fritz in infancy and two sisters, Dora Bramstedt and Elsie Stettnichs; and one grand daughter, Darla. Blessed be the memory of Minnie Dubbelde.

Funeral Mass Monday, July 3, 2000 at 10:30 am the Church of St. Mary Fr. John Vakulskas, Celebrating. Interment Larchwood Cemetery, Larchwood, IA
