John T. Kruse, 88, of Little Rock died Thursday, Oct. 24, 2002, at Lyon Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Rock Rapids.
Memorial services were Monday at Salem Reformed Church, Little Rock, with interment in Pleasant View Cemetery.
Mr. Kruse was born March 17, 1916, the son of Tom and Nannie (Voss) Kruse. He grew up in Little Rock and graduated from Little Rock High School in 1935. He attended Buena Vista College and worked at Rock Rapids State Bank-Little Rock office 41 years.
He was married to the former Mary Rehberg.
He was a past mayor of Little Rock, founder of the senior housing facility, school board member, Scoutmaster, Republican county chairman, and elder and deacon of Salem Reformed Church.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, John T. of Spencer and Judson J. of Des Plaines, Ill.; six daughters, Mrs. Verdean (Joan) Wiertzema of Boyden, Mrs. Larry (Nola) Hietbrink of Sarasota, Fla., Mrs. Jim (Marjo) Heitbrink of Milford, Mrs. Gene (Jerri) Eckholt of Red Wing, Minn., Mrs. John (Jewel) Doely of Sheldon and Mrs. Kevin (Joy) Hieber of Sioux Falls, S.D.; 18 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Leslie of Sioux City, and two sisters, Tillie Van Anken of Little Rock and Mary Schultz of Sibley.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Harvey and Albert, and five sisters, Katherine, Elma, Carrie, Margaret and Ida.
