Funeral For Mrs. Mary Werkhoven
To Be Held Today
Had Lived in Rock Rapids
for Over 24 Years; Burial
at Rock Valley

Mrs. Mary Werkhoven, who had been a resident of Rock Rapids for almost a quarter of a century, died here Monday morning. Mrs. Werkhoven had been in poor health for several years. Death resulted from a stroke.

Funeral services for the deceased will be held here today. Services will be conducted at the Methodist church and burial will be made at Rock Valley, where the deceased made her home for many years. Rev. C. W. Tompkins, pastor of the local Methodist church, will officiate.

Born at Doon

Mary Elizabeth Trigg was born December 6, 1872 (error--1871), at Doon. As a child she moved with her family to near LeMars, where she lived for a number of years. On April (error--March) 3, 1897, she was united in marriage to Jelle (Jay) Werkhoven at Doon.

The family lived in Rock Valley for some twenty years, and 24 years ago came to Rock Rapids, where they lived thereafter.

To this union four children were born; a son, Cedric, and a daughter, Nina, preceded their mother in death. Two years ago, Mr. Werkhoven also died.

The Survivors

Surviving are a son, Ivanhoe, of this community and a son, Calvin, of Spirit Lake. Also surviving are four grandchildren, and five brothers: Martin Trigg of Des Moines, Walter Trigg of Doon, Grover Trigg, Lafe Trigg and Wallace Trigg of Pipestone, Minnesota.

The deceased was a member of the Methodist church of this city and was a faithful attendant and worker in its activities as long as her health would permit.

Pallbearers will be Peter Harsma, Alfred Rohde, Harry Rasmussen, Frank Arndt, R. C. Yappen, Earl Sheumaker and Robert Oakes.

Lockwood funeral home is in charge of the arrangements.
